Another “Ewaso Lions Wedding”
Category: Team | Date: Dec 24 2008 | By: ewasolions
The entire Ewaso Lions team has just returned from a 2 day wedding in Wamba, North of Samburu. This was the second wedding of the year of one of the Ewaso Lions team members. This wedding was for the project’s community officer - Raphael Lekuraiyo. Jeremiah Letoole, Ewaso Lions scout, was married in July this year again in Wamba.
It was a lively, colourful and fun occasion, with many traditional dances and feasts. Below are a few photos of the occasion.
Raph, the groom
Alice, the beautiful bride from Wamba
Joseph and Jeneria dance amongst the other warriors and ladies
More traditional dancing

Look out for future blogs which will have some videos of the Samburu dances at the wedding!

so how does it feel being surrounded by a bunch of tall people? i personally hate it! my lack of height really makes me feel like a damn child even though i am middle age now.
so what did you get to eat? have a merry christmas to you and your lovely team! the bride and groom look so handsome and beautiful. i wish them happiness, luck and perfect health.

Hi Sauwah
It was odd being the only short one around… but I’ve got used to it and many call me “Muindi fupi” as a nickname meaning “the Short Indian Girl”.
At the wedding - to be honest, it was mainly a goat feast. I had carried some bread and peanut butter with me as an emergency and that came very useful in the end, as I am vegetarian!
Thanks for all the wishes, I will definitely pass them on to the rest of the team
Have a great xmas Sauwah,
Shivani
